Ministries at Heritage

Heritage is engaged in ministries all around the world. We partner with like-minded ministries and churches in order to reach our goal of advancing the Gospel wherever we go. Locally, we partner with Cargo Ranch and Children’s Hunger Fund. Nationally, Heritage partners with churches in Salt Lake City, Utah. Globally, Heritage partners with the Twin City mission effort in North Africa as well as multiple churches in Guatemala whose primary focus are planting other churches and sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Children's Ministry

“We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done… that the next generation might know them, the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children.”

- Psalm 78:4-6

The Children’s Ministry of Heritage Baptist Church exists as a tool to help families grow their children into strong believers who love and follow Jesus. Our Children’s Ministry includes babies to sixth grade. We have background checked volunteers who are committed to pour into our children week in and week out. We take seriously the safety of all of our children and the responsibility of teaching the next generation of the church and we are thankful to have a small part in their walk with our Lord.

Youth Ministry

Heritage Youth’s mission is to come alongside parents in the discipleship of their students. Our aim is to develop disciples who make disciples, connect them to peers and the whole church, and equip parents with the tools to disciple their teens. We want to partner with them as they encourage their students to know God, love God, and be a light in the world. Our weekly gatherings consist of fellowship, diving into God’s Word, worship, and small groups.

Our prayer for every student that walks through our doors is to: Know Christ, Be known, and make Him known to the world. On Sunday mornings, we walk through a book of the Bible verse by verse in order to understand the whole story of Scripture. During Midweek on Wednesday, we open up Scripture to see how we are to live and follow Jesus in our world today. Each month there is a new series focusing on a topic or book of the Bible. Other events that we have throughout the year are: Falls Creek, Super Summer, DNOW, Family Retreat, Mission Trip, and regular hangouts throughout the year to build community and share the love of God to the world.

    Recommended Resources for Parents

If you are a parent of a youth student, we’d love to connect with you. We send out a weekly newsletter that has important information and discipleship resources for your family. If you would like to be added to this, please email Chris Joines at chris.joines@heritageshawnee.org.

Life Groups

We believe that one way to equip the church is to encourage every person to live in community. We feel this is best accomplished by each person belonging to a life group that meets twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Sundays. The goal of each life group is to help individuals build intimate relationships with others in the church and to grow together in their faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus.
